Starting today, passengers heading to Goa during will be able to ride in a new premier train service from Mumbai. The train (Train No 22119/22120) will between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai and Karmali. Sources said that the hard terrain in the rains may pose to be a hurdle.

Goa Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar has welcomed the introduction of the semi-high speed Mumbai-Goa Tejas express, which is likely to reach Goa's Karmali station in a few hours on its maiden journey.

The Tejas train is expected to ply on New Delhi-Chandigarh and Lucknow-Anand Vihar (T) after the Mumbai CST-Karmali route.

Goa at 7.30am and touch CST at 7.45pm. The coaches of the have been manufactured at the Indian Coach Factory in Chennai.

Mumbai: Staff members of all departments from the Central Railway (CR) were all hard at work to get Tejas ready for its run after it arrived in Mazegaon train yard at 2 pm on Saturday. Executive class fare with food will cost Rs 2,680 per passenger, and Rs 2,525 without food.

Since the train is equipped with better facilities, the fare will be slightly higher than normal mail and express service, Mr. Prabhu said while inspecting the Tejas coaches here on Friday. CCTV cameras will also be there in the 19-coach train. A lot of railway employees and passengers were seen taking selfies with the new-age train. The cuisine will be curated by celebrity chefs. The newly designed coaches are capable of running at 200 kmph.

The Mumbai-Goa train would halt at Dadar (DD), Thane (TNA), Panvel (PNVL), Ratnagiri (RN), Kudal (KUDL) and has a total 15 LHB coaches - one executive chair vehicle, 12 coaches, generator cum SLR - two coaches.

According to railway ministry officials, the high-speed train will be available at 10-20% higher fare as compared to Shatabdi.
